‘Suspicious’ man caught hiding in Orlando apartment attic, video shows

Carlos Oguis, 25, faces charges of criminal mischief and burglary

ORLANDO, Fla. – A “suspicious person” was found in the attic of an Orlando apartment complex earlier this month, according to the police department.

Orlando police said Tuesday that they received a report on Nov. 2 about the a person inside a locked storage closet at the complex near Augusta National Drive and Bent Pine Drive.

“When officers arrived, they spoke with a maintenance worker who mentioned hearing noises coming from the attic,” a news release reads. “Officers used one of their cameras to inspect the area, where they discovered insulation had been disturbed.”

Following the discovery, police said they called out for anyone in the attic to come down, but there was no response, which prompted officers to instead deploy a couple of “irritants.”

Shortly afterward, a man — later identified Carlos Oguis, 25 — began moving around in the attic, and his foot soon broke through the ceiling, investigators said.

“When officers ordered (Oguis) to exit the attic again, he complied,” the release adds.
