Suspect at large after victim robbed at gunpoint in Mount Dora, police say

Incident happened at Viva Liquors at 101 S. Highland St.

MOUNT DORA, Fla. – Police in Mount Dora are looking for a person who stole a victim’s purse outside of a liquor store on Saturday, according to a news release.

Officers responded around 5:40 p.m. to Viva Liquor along South Highland Street, the release states.

The victim told police that an unidentified Black male dressed in all black and wearing a ski mask approached her as she was about to enter her vehicle, taking her purse while holding a black and silver semi-automatic firearm toward her, according to the release.

The suspect had also demanded the victim’s cell phone, yet she refused to part with it, police said. After threatening to shoot the victim, the suspect then drove away in an SUV of an unknown make or model which was last seen traveling west on 1st Avenue toward Clayton Street, according to the release.

The victim was not hurt, police said.
