ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando has always been thought of as a tourism-driven city. Although many people work at the theme parks, there are thousands of people working in the booming tech industry.
Prashant Peter Patel started a tech company called Third Eye Vision, years ago before anyone knew it would become a vision.
“I did my master’s in computer engineering from UCF back in 2003. So since then, I’ve been in the industry of IT infrastructure, IT systems, and providing services to the Central Florida community and beyond,” Patel said. “We specialize in security and networking for companies all across the country. People used to have to move to Dallas and the West Coast just to get a tech job. But I think the tech ecosystem that has developed so far is very conducive, and I think we are poised for a bigger growth in the IT industry.”

Recently, Orlando was named third on the list of the fastest-growing tech hubs for IT talent in the country, by Dice, a tech career website.
It’s based on the highest salaries for tech workers. San Antonio is number one and Philadelphia is number two.
Dice also looked at data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics that revealed the tech job market in Orlando is expected to increase by 27% by 2030.
That is more than double the expected growth for computer and IT jobs nationally.
They also report that the average tech job in Orlando pays $106, 693 a year.
Eric Ushkowitz, Orlando’s Business Development Division manager, says they are doing everything they can to boost the local tech industry.
“We have seen some organic growth on the side of AR, VR, Artificial Intelligence, digital media and gaming, and we would like to continue to grow that in the city,” he said.
Orlando is home to over 70,000 tech workers and they are aiming for many more in the coming years.
