OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – A mother arrested on Wednesday after her 14-year-old daughter was found dead is now facing first-degree murder charges, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.
During a news briefing on Wednesday evening, Sheriff Marcos Lopez announced that deputies had responded to a home at 1148 Cambourne Drive in Poinciana.
Lopez explained that the sheriff’s office had received calls about a “violent incident” at the house, and upon arrival, deputies found that the disturbance was still going on.
As a result, deputies apprehended the suspect — identified as Kelsey Glover — before speaking with witnesses at the scene, Lopez said.

“When the officers get there, they’re actually wrestling a hammer away from (Glover), and she’s trying to strike the lady who’s trying to prevent her from harming her daughter,” Lopez continued.
According to Lopez, the witnesses told investigators that Glover’s 14-year-old daughter was unresponsive in the bathroom upstairs.
“Witnesses also told deputies that they saw Ms. Glover holding her 14-year-old daughter’s head underwater in the bathtub, and they tried to stop her but were unsuccessful,” Lopez stated. “Eventually, Ms. Glover began attacking and chasing these witnesses around the house with a hammer, which led them to call 911.”
In all, Lopez said there were four people in the home when it happened: Glover, her daughter, another child, and someone else who lived with them.
Glover’s daughter was later taken to a hospital, though she was ultimately declared dead shortly after arriving, Lopez added.
On Friday, Osceola County officials said that the medical examiner concluded the cause of death was drowning and upgraded the charges Glover is facing.
Officials said they obtained an arrest warrant for first-degree murder for Glover on Friday, but said the investigation is ongoing.
When Glover was asked by a reporter whether she had anything to say about the accusations as she was being led away by deputies, she responded, “Lying (expletives).”
Lopez told reporters that detectives weren’t sure about what sparked this incident.
“That’s still actively being investigated as we speak,” Lopez said. “(Glover) was a little uncooperative, and hopefully we’ll get to the bottom of that soon. That’s why, right now, we’re charging her with those charges. But as soon as this gets concluded, other charges will be charged according to what occurred.”

Lopez also said that there was a “domestic issue” at that house in the past, which involved Glover battering her husband (the father of the 14-year-old), who later got an injunction against Glover.
According to Lopez, the father has since been advised of the 14-year-old’s death.
