Tackling food insecurity in Central Florida

Second Harvest Food Bank joins Breakfast with Bridgett

ORLANDO, Fla. – Dawn Koffarnus, chief of Health Systems and financial officer for Second Harvest Food Bank, stopped in Tuesday on Breakfast With Bridgett to talk about Giving Tuesday and the agency’s Health And Hunger program which provides, not just healthy foods, but nutritional education.

“Imagine being both food insecure, not knowing when or where that meal’s coming from, and being diagnosed with diet-related, chronic illness, such as diabetes, knowing that the types of foods you have access to are going to make a big difference in your health and wellbeing. That’s where our health and hunger programs come into play,” Koffarnuss said.

Gifts to Second Harvest can make a big impact. Every $10 donated can provide 40 meals for those in need across Central Florida.
