OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – A victim was hospitalized after being shot multiple times at an apartment complex near Kissimmee on Friday, according to Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez.
Deputies responded around 12:30 p.m. to the Heritage Park Apartments along E Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway regarding multiple reports of a shooting, Lopez said during a news conference.
“We arrived on scene and there was what appears to be a Hispanic male on the ground in the breezeway (who) looked like he had received multiple gunshot wounds,” Lopez said. “He’s been transported to hospital. I’ve just been advised that he’s in stable condition right now. We really don’t have a lot of information on what led to this shooting, although we do have a witness that said they believe they saw the victim and an individual speaking earlier in that immediate area. We’re just trying to collaborate that information before we give out a description and start trying to a little bit of information on the suspect.”
Lopez said that the victim lives at the apartment complex, adding it was presently unknown how many times he was shot.
It’s currently thought that the incident was isolated and that there was only one shooter, yet it’s unknown whether the suspect also lives at the apartment complex, the sheriff said.
According to Lopez, it’s still under investigation whether the shooter and victim are known to each other.
