CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – Oshri Gal grew up in Cocoa Beach working at his father’s beachwear shop.

“He was the type of guy that said, ‘Son if you could walk, you could work,” Gal said.

This led to Gal running all the retail and commercial operations for his father’s brand when he was 20, growing to become one of the largest beachwear retailers on the Space Coast, he said.

He sold the retail side of the company three years ago and has since focused on commercial development through his company OG Enterprises.

Being raised here, this has inspired what his company develops, as he said he is just looking to bring projects that are beneficial to the community.

“Our slogan, building our communities to be a better place to work, live and play is not just a slogan, it’s actually a quote of mine,” Gal said.

The project, Waves District is an example of that – it is a $50 million mixed-use development space that will be built in four phases, according to a press release.

It is located near Port Canaveral – off 8801 Astronaut Blvd, according to its website.

Phase one is done, Gal said – which is currently a surf-style shop and a restaurant. Phase two will be a food hall and roughly 9,000 square feet of commercial space – this is currently underway with a potential groundbreaking by the end of 2025, Gal said.

Phase three and four will be a condominium called The Residences at Wave District, which will offer short- or long-term rentals, Gal said.

Once fully built, it will be 35,000 square feet of commercial space, Gal said.

The food hall being built at Waves District is called Destination Downtown Food Hall – which marks the second location for this separate entity. The first is in Cocoa Beach and is set to open either during the spring or summer in 2025, according to its website.

The food hall will feature eight vendors and a bar, Gal notes that all the eateries there will be mom-and-pop businesses looking to get their start in the industry.

“We’re looking for the people to give them a push to achieve their dream. So not only does the local community get to enjoy the food hall as a customer, they also get the opportunity to be a part of the food hall and be successful for themselves,” Gal said.
