The victim then told deputies she was alone in a vehicle outside the motel while her friends were inside. According to deputies, she said Barker approached the vehicle, pulled a handgun, and forced her into the back seat, where he raped her.
Following the attack, the suspect took the victim’s cellphone and cash and ran away from the scene, according to authorities.
The victim was able to give a detailed description of Barker and his clothing. About 30 minutes later, a sheriff’s office lieutenant spotted the suspect at the nearby Days Inn hotel, officials said.
When shown Baker’s photo, the victim confirmed he was the suspect who attacked her, deputies said.
During a search of Baker’s room at the Days Inn, detectives found the victim’s stolen cellphone and a pellet gun.
Baker was arrested on charges of armed robbery, theft and possession of cocaine. Additional charges are pending the results of DNA testing.
Baker is being held in the Volusia County jail on no bond. Court records show he made his first appearance Sunday morning.
