ORLANDO, Fla. – A suspect was fatally shot during a vehicle burglary early Thursday in Orlando, according to police.
Officers responded around 5:18 a.m. to the Summergate Apartments off of Conroy Road, the Orlando Police Department said in a statement.
A male suspect was shot during a vehicle burglary, police said, adding the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
The shooter — an off-duty correctional officer, according to a spokesperson for Orange County Corrections — remained at the scene and an investigation is ongoing, the statement reads.
