ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Orange County leaders are set to vote on a plan that would lead to a sale and revitalization of the long-troubled Tymber Skan in the Lake Condominiums.
During a meeting on Tuesday, commissioners will vote to petition for a receiver to partition action to force sale of the property.
For decades, Tymber Skan has had problems with public safety and dilapidated buildings.

The complex, which was built in 1974, had 49 buildings with 321 condos. Now, after extensive demolitions, only eight buildings remain and water services are not available to one of the few occupied buildings.
William Armstrong, who has lived in the area for 20 years, said he’s watched as buildings have burned to the ground and the complex had constant problems with drugs and violent crime.
“It’s just slowly, like, it’s just deteriorating,” Armstrong said. “It’s like they don’t care. They look a Tymber Skan as a trash can.”
Officials said Orange County has dedicated millions in support and resources to Tymber Skan over the last decade. The funding has paid for demolitions, cleaning, social services, and repairs, the county said.
Tracye Walker has lived in Tymber Skan for the last 10 years and had concerns about what the county’s plan would mean for her and her neighbors.
Once you get all these people gone, what’s going to happen in their long-term process,” Walker asked. “There’s other options besides just putting us out.”
Prior to a vote, commissioners will hear a presentation that will cover Orange County’s next steps, action plan, and resources for residents.
Tuesday’s meeting is at the Orange County Administration Building and begins at 9 a.m.
