Family speaks out after mother slain in Orange County, husband arrested

Lamar Bryant, 41, accused of murdering Takeshia Eads

ORLANDO, Fla. – The family of a woman who was slain in Orange County earlier this week is now speaking out about her death.

“Even though I have so much love around me, the one person that I want is not here, and I need her. I need her, and I can’t get her back,” said Cordeja Paige.

Paige said her family is heartbroken trying to make sense of their mother’s tragic death.

The mother — Takeshia Renee Eads — was fatally shot along West Living Street on Tuesday. Eads’ husband, Lamar Antonio Bryant, 41, was arrested on a charge of first-degree murder.

“Just watching people go through certain stuff like this. I promise we never would’ve thought this would have happened to us. My mom just buried her sister, and me and my little sister were just saying we don’t know what we’ll do if this happens to us,” said Paige.

“I’m walking into the house and walk past him. I asked him what’s going on. He told me nothing, and I found her like that. That’s why it’s taking a toll on me so bad because I can’t stop seeing what I saw,” Paige added.

It’s even harder for her siblings, like Lamar Bryant Jr., because her accused killer is their father.

“Everything happened two days before my birthday. Everything isn’t adding up, calculating for me,” said Bryant.

Paige said her mother was the backbone of their family, a praise dancer for their church, and used her time to uplift others around her.

“Can’t nobody pray like my mama prayed,” explained Paige. “She was really devoted to God. After he did what he did to my mom, I promise you he’s forgiven by her; she’s forgiven him.”

Paige is asking for privacy right now, but the family plans to hold several events to celebrate their mom’s legacy and impact on the community next week.
