DELAND, Fla. – DeLand police are investigating a shooting that left a contracted garbage truck driver hospitalized and three individuals in custody.
The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. in the 1900 block of Greenborough Loop in the Trinity Gardens neighborhood.

According to a news release, an altercation broke out between the trash truck driver and three individuals. The confrontation turned physical, and gunfire was exchanged, and the driver was struck by a gunshot. He was airlifted to a hospital, where his condition is listed as stable.
After fleeing the scene, officers found all three and took them into custody without further incident.
Investigators said there is no evidence anyone else was struck by gunfire and no threat to the public.
