MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. – Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis held a news conference Friday morning near Palmetto to announce an award to fund infrastructure improvements at a Gulf Coast port.
Speaking at SeaPort Manatee, DeSantis said $2 million from the Florida Job Growth Grant Fund would be used to rebuild and repave S. Dock Street and to bolster storm-water mitigation, among other improvements.
“The project is expected to create 300 jobs. Beyond enhancing port efficiency, these upgrades will facilitate supporting and expansion for home, aerospace and automotive product manufacturer Honeywell. This includes supporting Honeywell’s expected development of new businesses over the next five years, including a cold storage warehouse, a fuel terminal and a manufacturing facility,” DeSantis said.
The governor was joined by Florida Department of Transportation Secretary Jared Perdue.
