BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – The public is invited to three in-person meetings next month in Brevard County to discuss SpaceX’s plans to launch its Starship super-heavy rocket from the Space Coast, and its environmental impact.
SpaceX has been building a facility capable of launching the rocket at Kennedy Space Center’s Launch Complex 39A. But the company now says it wants to build additional infrastructure for an advanced design of the super heavy rocket. It also wants to fly more frequent missions every year, and it wants to be able to land the Super Heavy’s booster at LC-39A.

The Federal Aviation Administration will host the meetings to give the public more information on what SpaceX proposes and provide people a chance to comment.
Two meetings will be held on June 12 at the Radisson Cape Canaveral at 8701 Astronaut Blvd. in Cape Canaveral. One will take place at 2 p.m., and another will take place at 6 p.m.
A third in-person meeting will be held on June 13 at 6 p.m. at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.
The FAA will also hold a virtual meeting on June 17 at 6 p.m.

SpaceX’s Starship Super Heavy rocket is the biggest and most powerful rocket ever built. NASA plans to eventually use Starship to land astronauts on the moon and build a sustained presence there. Starship will also be used to go to Mars.
So far, SpaceX has conducted three test flights at a launch facility in Texas. On the most recent launch in March, the spacecraft lasted almost 50 minutes in flight before it broke apart, instead of splashing down in the Indian Ocean, which was the company’s goal.
SpaceX considered that a big win. In the last two test flights, the rockets exploded.
