“SXM-9 is the 10th high-powered, digital, audio radio satellite built by Maxar (SSL) for SiriusXM,” the space center’s website reads. “The SXM-9 satellite will be based on Maxar’s proven 1300-class platform and built at the company’s manufacturing facility in Palo Alto, California. SXM-9 has a large, mesh, unfurlable reflector almost 10 meters in diameter that allows SiriusXM programming to reach its radios, including those in moving vehicles.”
According to SpaceX, the 90-minute launch window opens at 11:10 a.m., though a two-hour backup window will open on Friday at the same time if needed.
This is set to be the 19th flight for the Falcon 9 first-stage booster used in this mission, which previously helped launch CRS-26, OneWeb Launch 16, Instelsat IS-40e, O3B mPOWER, Ovzon 3, Eutelsat 36D, Turksat 6A, Maxar 2, and 10 Starlink missions.
News 6 will stream the launch live at the top of this page when it happens.
