Video shows moments before punch that killed woman at Daytona bar

Woman, 51, dies after man punches her at Oyster Bay bar, police say

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Newly released surveillance video showed the last time 51-year-old Debbie Jost enjoyed a Saturday night at the Oyster Bay bar.

"Some guy just walked into the bar and punched one of the girl's in the face and knocked her right down," a 911 caller said.

Police said Michael Lamothe, 35, took her life. Video shows Lamothe wrapping his arms around Jost and reportedly grabbing her breasts.

"He came into the bar. He wrapped his arms around her and nobody knew who he was," the caller said.

When customers yelled at Lamothe to leave, police said he punched a man and the two continued to fight on the ground. The video showed Jost telling them to stop and Lamothe leaving the bar. Within minutes, Lamothe returned, but Jost held onto the door to keep him from coming in. Police said Lamothe then punched Jost, who fell to the ground.

Caller: "He walked outside and came back in and he punched her in the face so hard.
911: "Is she bleeding?"
Caller: "At the back of her head. She hit the concrete floor."

Family told News 6 that Jost was a loving mother, grandmother and recent college graduate with an associate of arts degree. The owner of the Oyster Bay bar took to Facebook and wrote in part:

..."She wasn't just a regular customer of my bar, she was part of the Oyster Bay family and now we all grieve together in her loss."

Lamothe remains at the Volusia County Jail without bond, marking his third arrest for a violent offense. In June 2013, he was arrested for battery. In July 2015, he was arrested for battery and resisting an officer. Jost's family created an online petition to keep Lamothe in jail. Lamothe's attorney filed a motion on Thursday requesting that the judge set a reasonable bond for Lamothe.
