What you didn't know about Vanna White

Meteorologist Candace Campos interviews Vanna White from ‘Wheel of Fortune'

Vanna White has been a household name for more than 30 years, rising to stardom on the popular game show "Wheel of Fortune."

But there's a lot more about the former actress that not everyone knows.

She's perfected the art of letter-spinning, and she's also the world's most frequent hand clapper, with more than 600 claps per show.

White said there have been some changes to the show over the years, but one thing that's remained the same is the price to buy a vowel.

"In 33 years, it has remained $250 to buy a vowel!. No inflation there!," said White.

She said that over the years, she has worn more than 6,000 gowns, and never the same gown twice.

News 6 Meteorologist Candace Campos asked how White keeps her arms in tip-top shape.

"I do 10-pound weights and I have a pull-up bar," said White.

"How many can you do?" Campos asked.

"Not that many. Maybe five," said White. "That's so funny. Now you have inspired me with my arms, because sometimes I wear those dresses, strapless dresses, and I am wondering, "Oh, my gosh, what am I going to do with these arms?'"

White said she's accumulated lots of good memories over the years on the show, including some that now, just bring a laugh.

"My most embarrassing moment, again, someone won a car, I went over to congratulate them and our puzzle board is on some steps higher, so I stepped down and I missed the last step," said White. "You just saw me disappear behind the car!."

"Did you jump back up?" Campos asked.

"I jumped back up, I brushed myself off. I went over and said, 'Congratulations!'" said White.  "And he asked, 'Did you have a nice trip?' on the air."

"What is one of your most memorable moments over the past 30 years?" Campos asked.

"After doing this show for 33 years, there are so many memories and so many moments that are so special," said White. "I remember a guy winning a brand new car, and the first thing he said was, 'I don't have to take the bus anymore,', and that just touched me."

White also works in her off time to help make a difference, using her hobbies as a way to help children in need. She's created her own "Vanna's Choice Yarn" collection, a portion whose proceeds benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

"So I hear you are an avid crocheter," said Campos. "When do you have time between being a mom and a celebrity?"

"I did it in the car on the way here, actually, in the back seat," said White. "If I'm in the doctor's office, or at night when watching TV, I do it as much as I can."

Campos said White has always been an inspiration to her, so before she wrapped up her interview,
there was one question that she said she had to ask.

"I don't know if you have heard, but we have this new Pinpoint Weather on News 6," said Campos. "We have this big giant iPad that I do the weather, and it's all touch screen. And you are the queen of touching and spinning, and I need a little guidance. What is your secret?"

"Your touch, you have the special touch. I know you do. I know you do, I can just tell," said White.

"You can tell I have a special touch? Oh,my gosh," said Campos. "Vanna White just said I have a special touch. Did we get that on camera?"
