There’s a lot of shows to see!

Here’s what’s going on.

🎶 He met Marmalade down in old Moulin Rouge

Moulin Rouge at Dr. Phillips Center (wkmg)

“Moulin Rouge” wraps up this weekend and I have to say, it is REALLY GOOD. I went with my mom last week and we were blown away. There’s a pre-show when you first arrive and it makes you feel like you’re at the real Moulin Rouge in Paris. The show features some original music along with pop songs from artists like Lady Gaga and Adele. There’s so much going on in the show, I remember thinking at one point I had no idea when the two main characters changed costumes! I also can’t forget about the a surprise at the end. I highly recommend it and the show is for anyone, even if your significant other doesn’t like musicals. My news director, Allison, told me her husband and son loved it. I posted ticket information and what to expect from the show here.

🎸 Original show exploring neurodiversity debuting in Downtown Orlando

“FIND ME: A Modern Rock Opera” is a neurodiversity-affirming story of two strangers learning to connect using more than words, featuring a live band acting as narrator. (Without Fear Theatre/Orlando Fringe)

“FIND ME: A Modern Rock Opera” is a neurodiversity-affirming story about a woman named, Allie, waiting to meet someone she’s never met before. When she finally arrives, she’s nothing like Allie imagined. A live band acts as narrator, inner voice, spirit guide, and kid’s TV show. The play explores the most vulnerable relationship we have with ourselves. The show wraps up this weekend. Check out what to expect here.

🕺 Catch this musical featuring Elvis Presley songs

Joel Hunt plays Dean, John Rochette plays Chad, Stephanie Dorcely plays Lorraine, and Rachel Hope Ihasz plays Natalie in "All Shook Up at Garden Theatre. (Bagwell Photography.)

“All Shook Up” is performing at Garden Theatre in Winter Garden through March 10. Step back in time to 1955, in a little town where the mayor is imposing new laws prohibiting loud music, tight pants, and basically anything fun. A guitar-playing young man steps in, shaking it all up with everything and everyone he meets. The townspeople become encouraged to step out of their mundane lives and want to experience something more. The musical features hits like “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Hound Dog,” “Jailhouse Rock,” and “Don’t Be Cruel.” I had the chance to speak with two actors from the show. They both have impressive resumes. See how they got into acting, why they love Winter Garden, and ticket information here.

🎨 Black History Month: Artist and Actor Spotlight 🎭

Jordan Jones with his mural outside a hair salon on Parramore Avenue (Jordan Jones)

I had the chance to speak to two impressive young men paving the way here in Central Florida. Jordan Jones moved to Orlando in 2021, and already, he’s making his mark. He’s behind several murals and paintings around the City Beautiful, celebrating Black Culture. See the meaning behind his pieces and what inspires him here.

Keith Banks performing "Becoming Grandma Kat" at Orlando Fringe's festival in 2022. (Orlando Fringe 2022, Brian Harris)

Keith Banks has big dreams of making theater more accessible for those who are Deaf or hard-of-hearing. Already, his performances are opening people up to that world through his show at Orlando Fringe Festival: “Becoming Grandma Kat.” He uses American Sign Language throughout the entirety of his performance. Banks tells me he wants to see more people who are Deaf or hard-of-hearing on stage and behind the scenes. He hopes to one day start his own theater company promoting that. See how you can support him here.

🤠 I’m a little more country than that

Easton Corbin on Setting the Stage (wkmg)

Country singer, Easton Corbin, is coming to the Sumter County fair in Bushnell next weekend. I had the chance to talk to him. Did you know he grew up in Florida, just outside of Gainesville? He spoke to me about how growing up around his grandparents on a cattle farm really inspired his love for country music and way of life. See his full interview with me and how you can catch him at the Sumter County fair here.

Easton Corbin is known for his hit singles “A Little More Country Than That” and “Roll With It.” (John Shearer)
