What a show-stopper of a week!

Florida Solar eclipse (wkmg)

Didn’t you love the show from science on Monday?

Even though we were only in a partial solar eclipse here in Central Florida, it was so cool to see!

Thank you for opening my email, I’m News 6 producer, Brooke Savage, the writer behind this Setting The Stage newsletter.

I saw so many pictures from my family and on our pins page. Digital Journalist, Jacob Langston, took the picture above through his solar eclipse glasses. He takes incredible photos!

From the sky, to the stage and the big screen, let’s take a look at all the shows and events you can do this weekend.

💭 Oh, the thinks you can think!

Jonathan Barreto plays The Cat in the Hat and Olivia Hill plays JoJo in "Seussical The Musical." (Little Radical Theatrics)

“Seussical The Musical” will take you through the world of Dr. Seuss starring some beloved characters from the children’s author, including The Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Mayzie, and JoJo.

Shows from Little Radical Theatrics start tonight at Fringe ArtSpace in Downtown Orlando. I posted ticket information and spoke to the actors playing The Cat in the Hat and JoJo here.

They gave a great perspective on what you can expect.

🎬 Florida Film Fest is back!

Florida Film Festival 2023 pictured above. (Florida Film Festival)

Starting tonight, you can catch a number of up-and-coming films being featured at the Florida Film Festival in Maitland and Winter Park. Some well-known celebrities will also be there, including Actor and comedian John Cleese, along with actress Natasha Lyonne.

I had the chance to talk to the creators behind a film making its premiere there. It’s called “Lady Parts.” The indie film is a dramedy about a woman’s battle with health care and how her loving, but overbearing parents help her through recovery after surgery.

It seems funny, while also focusing on a woman’s health issue that not many talk about! See what to expect from the film and the festival schedule here.

🎤 Free concert at Ocoee Music Festival

Ocoee Music Fest (wkmg)

Tonight and tomorrow, you can catch a free concert at Bill Breeze Park in Ocoee. I took the picture above last year!

It’s becoming a yearly tradition to go with my husband. Some of the musical artists you can expect include Bret Michaels, Michael Ray, and Cooper Alan.

Digital Journalist, Brenda Argueta, posted what you can expect here.

Winter is coming!

Opera Orlando Lucia di Lammermoor (Copyright 2024 by WKMG ClickOrlando - All rights reserved.)

Are you a “Game of Thrones” fan like me?

News 6 anchor and insider guide, Crystal Moyer, got an inside look at Opera Orlando’s newest production, “Lucia di Lammermoor.” It’s an action-packed opera mixed with the well-known drama TV series.

Love, life, liberty, the house, and the future of the family are all on the line in the show on April 19 and 20 at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.

You also have the opportunity to win free tickets! You just have to be an insider. Not an insider? It’s free to join.

A busy week of interviews

Setting The Stage (wkmg)

Last week I had the chance to interview three impressive television and/or movie actors, each from a different genre!

Want to be nostalgic with childhood memories? See what David Newell had to say about playing Mr. McFeely in “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.”

Comedy more your thing? Cheryl Hines from “Curb Your Enthusiasm” stopped by to discuss how her acting career started in Orlando, and what it’s like to be the wife of a presidential candidate.

Maybe you’re more into thrillers? RJ Mitte from “Breaking Bad” told me about some of the behind-the-scenes moments on set and why it’s so important to have people with disabilities represented in the media.
