An unusual dry pattern

Hey Insiders, it’s meteorologist Michelle Morgan discussing the unusually dry conditions we’ve experienced in July. If you think so too, you’re right. As August approaches, we’re still seeing below-average rainfall in many areas, leading to abnormally dry conditions persisting in several cities.

Rain for you and you, but not everyone? I wish I could be the Oprah of rain so everyone could have some! Hey there Insiders it’s meteorologist Samara Cokinos.

July has been interesting in the rain department lately. While I wish I could say “yes everyone will get some much-needed beneficial rain,” that simply hasn’t been the case lately.

Community spotlight

Hey there, Insiders! It’s meteorologist Julie Broughton here with you. Did you know when I’m not busy pinpointing your afternoon forecast, I’m scouring the streets of Central Florida looking for GOOD news? Every Tuesday at 5:30, along with our talented photojournalist Paul Giorgio, I bring you Getting Results in Our Schools.

Then on Fridays, we celebrate our local heroes with the Getting Results Award.

I love shining the spotlight on the great things happening here in our community. ICYMI, did you know UCF has one of six programs nationwide offering degrees in Optics and Photonics? This week, Paul and I headed to their summer camp and met some very smart teens who are getting a leg up in this in-demand career! Check out the story and learn how you can send your teen to this innovative camp next year.

Shameless plug here, if you have any great school stories or community heroes we need to know about, please email me at jbroughton@wkmg.com!
