Did you know, pigeons represent a message of peace, love, transformation, and protection? I wonder if you will take that message with you when you see what’s going on in downtown Orlando.
Thank you for opening my email, I’m News 6 producer Brooke Savage, the writer behind this Setting The Stage newsletter.

You may be wondering, why am I talking about pigeons?
They’re pretty top of mind right now, because of a new art project.
Let’s dive (or fly?) right into what’s going on in local arts and theatre.
🕊 Giant. Inflatable. Neon. Pigeons. (and yes, that’s a dove emoji, but I can’t find a pigeon one on our website)
The picture above may look... interesting... but this is really happening! Orlando city leaders say the art project features inflatable pigeons on several rooftops throughout downtown. The goal is to encourage community engagement, support local businesses, and bring more visitors to the area. Click here to see what it looks like. I would also like to give a shoutout to reporter Mark Lehman for sending me the pigeon pics I put in this newsletter, and to planning editor, Ashleigh Coran. She put together a great story about some of the different art displays you can find throughout Central Florida.
🌊 A new immersive experience and concert
Creative City Project is back with a new show called “Wavelength.” It debuts tomorrow at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts with just one show. The creators behind the show describe it as part concert, part multimedia visual art exhibition where live music meets immersive light. I had the chance to speak with Creative City Project’s founder, Cole NeSmith. We had a great chat about how the organization got started, and what makes an experience immersive. Click here for the details on “Wavelength” and to see my podcast interview.
🌌 This show will take you to a world filled with a little pop, a little love, and a whole lot of soul
This is not your ordinary pop concert, organizers call it an experience that will transport you to a world of endless summer. Before the show there’s food, vendors, art, and more. Then, the audience can expect to sing, dance, and party during the “Soul Pop” concert. The show is recommended for all ages and there is audience interaction. Each week of the show has a different special guest artist. See the schedule for the different artists here.
🐯 A new take on “The Jungle Book”
“The Jungle Book” is coming to downtown Orlando, but it’s not the story you’d typically expect. In this sequel, Shere Khan the tiger and Mora the peacock take center stage. The show highlights the power of determination, forgiveness and acceptance. You can expect to see intricate masks, life-size puppets, circus art, and Bollywood dancers. It runs next weekend at the Dr. Phillips Center. I posted everything you need to know.
