Let’s take a look at the shows and art exhibits you can check out this weekend and in the coming weeks. ⤵
⛸⛸ The newest Disney On Ice show is premiering right here in Orlando
Mickey and his friends are back and they’re putting on their ice skates once again for a big dance party on the rink.
It’s all part of Feld Entertainment’s production of Disney On Ice presents Let’s Dance! You can expect the show to remix some favorite Disney songs while exploring the different worlds of movies and characters.
The show features stories from “Wish,” “The Lion King,” “Frozen 2,” “Moana,” and so much more.
I had the chance to speak with one of the ice skaters in the ensemble. She told me all about the show at the Kia Center in downtown Orlando, and of course, I posted the link to the ticket information. Click here to check that out.
😂 An improv comedy show that makes you part of the family
Have you ever seen “Mama’s Comedy Show”?
It’s been around in Central Florida for 15 years and this weekend, there will be a special performance to help raise money for Theatre South Playhouse in the Orlando area.
The show is very similar to the TV show, “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” Check out why they call it “Mama’s Comedy Show” and get the details on tomorrow’s performance here.
🤴 See “Pippin” in a whole new way
In downtown Winter Garden, you can catch the story of a young prince who learns the true meaning of glory, love, and war in the musical from Stephen Schwartz, the composer and lyricist behind the Broadway hit, “Wicked.”
While “Pippin” at Garden Theatre will perform the beloved story that’s been around for more than 50 years, you’ll also notice this show being more accessible for audiences who are deaf or hard of hearing.
The show is doing this through the use of American Sign Language, English, and visual language. It is really cool to see how they plan to represent the hearing world, and the non-hearing world throughout the performance.
The musical runs through Sept. 15. Click here to see what the show is all about.
📚 An art exhibit celebrating Little Golden Books
Get ready to step back to a time when you went to the library and picked out your favorite kid’s book from Little Golden Books.
A new exhibit at Orlando Museum of Art will be bringing all of the nostalgia with more than 60 masterpieces of original illustrations from the Random House archives.
The exhibit opens next Friday. You’ll definitely want to check out the details about what to expect and learn more about when you can bring your family there for free.
💪 What does it take to be on MTV’s “The Challenge?”
In a past newsletter, I admitted to loving some reality TV shows and learning more about what goes on behind the scenes.
Meteorologist Julie Broughton had the chance to catch up with Mark Long, who is often called the “godfather of reality TV.” He starred in season one of MTV’s “Road Rules” in 1995 and is an early pioneer in the genre.
Now, he’s competing in the 40th season of “The Challenge: Battle of the Eras.” Long is the only person to have competed in four different decades of the show!
Julie had the chance to work out with him and ask him tons of questions about how he prepares for the competition, like training to drive a car off of a cliff. See his answer in her story.
