DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Four kittens were saved Monday from a trip to the landfill after they were found among piles of trash in Daytona Beach, according to the ARNI Foundation.
The 3-week-old kittens were found on North Halifax Avenue after trash collectors opened a box and discovered them.

“Some amazing people rescued them and now they are safe,” the ARNI Foundation wrote on Facebook.
The ARNI Foundation said the kittens were very hungry and posted pictures of the furry bunch chowing down on cat food and milk.
The kittens were dehydrated and “not looking so good” when they first arrived at the shelter, but “after some food and formula they should be OK,” the foundation said.
The ARNI Foundation is a 501(c) (3) no-kill shelter for cats and dogs.
Animals that need a forever home are listed on the nonprofit’s website, arnifoundation.org, including a mother dog and her 10 puppies, who were recently rescued from a high-kill shelter.
This is the second time in a week that News 6 has reported on kittens being dumped.
Six kittens were found last week stuffed in a box and dumped at a closed Brevard County animal shelter.
The location, which has been closed since October, is still being visited by people looking to abandon pets, according to advocate group Space Coast Feline Network.
