LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – Lake County leaders on Tuesday moved one step closer to asking voters to fund conservation efforts.
The county is considering whether to renew a property tax referendum in November.
The Public Lands Acquistion program was first approved by 71% of voters in 2004. Some of that money has been used to acquire the Green Mountain Scenic Overlook and Ferndale Preserve.
It’s an issue News 6 has been covering for weeks as part of our WKMG Hits The Road coverage to the 34756 ZIP code.
County commissioners debated the ballot language Tuesday for the referendum, which needs a simple majority to pass.
Commissioners will make a final decision June 4 whether to put it on the ballot.
