Republican Rep. Cory Mills will face Democrat Jennifer Adams in the November election for U.S. House District 7.
The Associated Press reported Adams defeated challengers Allek Pastrana and Tatiana Fernandez Tuesday night. Meanwhile, Mills secured his nomination for a second term, beating challenger Mike Johnson in the Republican primary.

Following the 2020 census, the Florida Legislature voted to redraw District 7. It includes all of Seminole and a portion of Volusia County, which allowed for a big political shift as it acquired more Republican voters in the 2022 election.
According to registered voter statistics by the Florida Division of Elections, there are 208,737 registered Republicans, 166,786 registered Democrats, and 160,799 no-party-affiliate voters who make up District 7.

Here’s what to know for the Democratic primary for U.S. House District 7.

Allek Pastrana is of Puerto Rican descent and has a background in cyber security, which he believes is beneficial if you’re working in Washington, DC.
From a candidate standpoint, Allek Pastrana calls himself a community activist, attends rallies and likes to make people’s voices heard.
In an interview, Pastrana told News 6 that he feels the economy, health care, and reproductive rights are three priorities for the district.
“What constituents are telling me in the district is that they’re having the issues of either paying for medicine that they need or putting food on the table,” said Pastrana.

TATIANA FERNANDEZ - Campaign Website
Born in Puerto Rico, Tatiana Fernandez is a business owner and has been a Seminole County resident for 20 years.
In an interview with News 6, Fernandez said she’s always been intrigued by politics. She made the decision to run for the District 7 seat while in Washington, DC shortly after former District 7 Rep. Stephanie Murphy stepped down.
She believes the biggest issues that matter most to constituents are health care and property insurance costs, adding that members of the community are constantly asking for her help
“We have a closed government right now. I would like to open a community office where people can come to us and then we can figure out how we can open to the community and work with them better,” Fernandez said.

Jennifer Adams was born and raised in Central Florida.
Adams currently serves as the executive director for Florida Community Partnership where she leads a team of expert strategists to advance solution-based strategies in both the public and private sector.
As a mom and domestic violence survivor, Adams is an advocate for other survivors.
“I’ve sat on government advisory boards and through those positions, being able to dedicate resources and do grant reviews and things like that, to really be able to know that a lot of these dollars are going towards the programs that are really needed and that are really making an impact,” said Adams.
Adams told News 6 that the big issues in the district that need to be addressed are the environment, the economy, and health care.
