WINTER PARK, Fla. – Word of a large police presence and a motorcade on a Florida highway was all the notice many got on Wednesday that Sen. JD Vance was in Central Florida.

Vance, former President Trump’s running mate, quietly touched down in Orlando just before noon. Roads were shut down as the motorcade made its way to Winter Park, where he attended a fundraiser at the home of Diane and Eric Holm, Golden Corral franchise owners.

Information on the WinRed website for Republican fundraising said the base ticket was $5,000 per couple, with tickets going as high as $100,000 per couple to be part of the “Host Committee,” which included a lunch reception, a photo with Vance, and a seat at a roundtable.

The motorcade then made its way back to the airport, where Vance left on his chartered plane for Michigan for a public address. A News 6 viewer shared a video of Vance’s motorcade on State Road 408 near Lake Underhill as it headed back in the afternoon.

According to the invitation, the host list for the fundraiser included several state Republican leaders, including Florida Agricultural Commissioner Wilton Simpson, Florida Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis, and U.S. Reps. Kat Cammack and Michael Waltz who represent Central Florida, including parts of Marion County.

It’s the second time the Trump campaign has held a fundraiser in the Orlando area this year. The former president attended a fundraiser hosted by attorney Dan Newlin in April.
