Sonic Prep Player of the Week: Chase Carter

Carter plays football at Edgewater High School

ORLANDO, Fla. – After Hurricane Ian, many high school football games got shifted to different nights instead of the normal Friday Night Lights. One of the games that got rescheduled to Thursday night featured this week’s Sonic Prep Player of the Week.

Chase Carter is at the helm for one of the state’s best teams, the now 6-0 Edgewater High School Eagles. The senior quarterback starts for an electric offense at Edgewater. The Eagles continued their undefeated campaign after defeating Timber Creek High School 40-0 on Thursday night.

Edgewater has another big name in the backfield with running back C.J. Baxter, who is committed to the University of Texas, but Carter inflicts damage on his own. He is a dual threat for his Eagles team looking to make another deep playoff run.

And no matter what, Carter is there for his teammates and their success.

“As the quarterback, a lot of my teammates depend on me, not only to win games but for their recruitment,” Carter said. “I feel like I naturally just put pressure on myself to give them chances to make plays, both to win games and for their recruitments.”
