MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. – Hudson Blank and his baseball squad at Merritt Island High School recently saw their season come to an end.
Blank, a senior catcher for the Mustangs, stepped up in the playoffs, recording a .625 batting average and eight RBIs through four games. Blank and the team made it all the was to the Class 4A state final four.
Even though the season came to an end, Blank’s heroics won’t be forgotten anytime soon. Blank said his head coach, Dan Wydner, told him Blank’s big moment was coming.
“[My coach] told me one night before one of the playoff games ‘I got a feeling tonight; tonight’s your night,’” Blank told News 6. “And I hit the ball hard twice, and then he moved me up in the line-up. I’ve been putting in a lot of extra time in coming to the field, and I’ve been hitting with him. It’s kind of my stance, but he’s just been helping me out lately, and I’ve been seeing the ball better and hitting it a lot better.”
