WINTER PARK, Fla. – Isabella Romain is a force on the water.
The senior at Windermere High School has been rowing for several years at OARS, the Orlando Area Rowing Society.
As a team captain, Romain led her varsity four boat to a second place finish in regionals this year. She was a part of winning a regional championship in the varsity eight boat three years ago.
Romain is a force academically too. She finished in the top-10 percent of her class and will row at Gonzaga University as an incoming freshman later this year.
“I visited other teams, and they had good team cultures,” Romain told News 6. “But this place felt like home when I came there. They were all trying to get to know me. Even if they didn’t know if I was going to go there, they were still trying to get to know me and showing me around. The girl that hosted me, she was really sweet and kind.”
