Sonic Prep Player of the Week: Jacob Loeffler

Merritt Island High School grad is a two-way threat on the diamond

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – Jacob Loeffler saw a little bit of everything during his time on the Merritt Island High School baseball team, including a remarkable playoff run this past season.

The Mustangs galloped through the Class 4A tournament before coming up short in the state semifinals.

Loeffler wreaked havoc on the mound and at the plate. He wrapped up his senior season with a brilliant 1.17 ERA as the ace of the pitching staff, and he batted over .300 throughout his high school career.

Now, Loeffler will take his talents to Alabama State University.

“I always dreamed about playing at the collegiate level. My mom grew up in Alabama, we have family there, it’s just the perfect place for me. It’s going to be fun, I’m excited,” Loeffler said. “I remember talking to my mom when I got the offer, and her face just lit up, and my whole family had a celebration dinner for me, which was really nice.”
