Batter up! Lake Mary Little League takes on the South

Lake Mary captured its second straight state championship

LAKE MARY, Fla. – In the 77-year history of the venerated Little League World Series, the overall champion has never hailed from the state of Florida.

The 12U Lake Mary All-Stars are the one team in 2024 that can change that.

Lake Mary captured its second straight state championship just over a week ago to stay in the hunt of the ultimate goal in Little League Baseball.

This week, the squad of Seminole County ballplayers hope to conquer the South. Lake Mary will represent Florida in the Southeast Regionals and be among a field of state champions from Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, and Alabama. Lake Mary opens with the champions from South Carolina on Thursday in a double elimination format.

Whoever wins the Southeast region will head to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. A summer ago, Lake Mary fell one victory short of that trip.

Family and friends of the Lake Mary All-Stars threw the two-time Florida champs a send-off party before they left for regionals in Georgia.

News 6 was there and talked to the ballplayers.
