Little League tips cap to Brevard County coach

Andrea Vermillion was 1 of 5 volunteers to be recognized during the LLWS

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – Central Florida was glued to the Little League World Series this August thanks to the Lake Mary All-Stars! 

The teams, of course, are the highlights of the tournament.

Yet, the backbone of Little League throughout the country is made up of the thousands of volunteers. One Brevard County coach was treated to a moment in the spotlight in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

Andrea Vermillion was one of five volunteers to be recognized during the World Series, saluted for her work with Little League baseball and softball in Satellite Beach and Melbourne Beach.

The kindergarten teacher and mother of three dedicates hours of her free time teaching lessons on the diamond. She even helped create a new softball team along the Space Coast to give more girls an opportunity to step up to the plate.

In recognition of Andrea’s work, New York Life gave her a $1,000 grant to assist her teams.
