ORLANDO, Fla. – Marissa Hengespach is a butterfly swimming specialist at Bishop Moore High School.
The senior transferred last year to Bishop Moore from Lakeland. And Hengespach says it’s the best decision she’s ever made.
“I just love being a part of the swim team,” Hengespach told News 6. “Everybody knows what you’re going through at practice, and it’s just so fun to be able to work and do the grind with your teammates.”
Hengespach’s specialties are the butterfly and the middle-distance freestyle. She plans to focus on those styles in college.

The Hornets team at Bishop Moore is happy to have Hengespach. She’s one of the best swimmers in Central Florida, and the team is starting to make serious waves at the state level.
“We really have come together over the past year,” Hengespach recalled. “We were able to place in the top eight in the 200 (meter) freestyle and the 200 (meter) medley relay at states last year, and it was really just an amazing year, and we’re hoping to do the same thing again this year.”
