Eighth-grader Olivia Neal and her father, Shelby Neal, flew in from Dallas and are excited to play together at Disney.

“I’ve been golfing with my dad since I was 3 years old,” Olivia said, “And last year we had so much fun teaming up for an eagle on one hole.”

Last year, the Neal duo had a top-20 finish in the inaugural PGA Family Golf Championship.

“[Disney’s Palm Course] is really a special Florida-style resort golf course,” Shelby said. “It almost looks like it’s part of the Magic Kingdom, but it’s actually real nature.”

Disney’s Palm Course was redesigned in 2013 by Arnold Palmer Design Company which modernized this original Joe Lee designed masterpiece. This course has seen iconic players roam the fairways, including Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, and Arnold Palmer.

“The families are really excited, and with the weather situation, there are a lot of families working really hard to get here,” said Kristi Egnot, PGA of America Tournament Director for the event. “My favorite thing about golf is the history and everybody who was there before us and how the game continues to evolve and grow, so this is truly a special place.”

The PGA Family Championship runs through Sunday and is open to spectators. Admission is free.
