ORLANDO, Fla. – Jannelize Perez may have dressed up as a baseball player for Halloween, but she’s always a star on the Lake Highland Prep volleyball team.
The senior is a libero, which is a defensive specialist and one of the leaders on the volleyball court.

Perez is committed to play collegiately at New Hampshire, but first things first: Perez and her teammates are gearing up for a state semifinal matchup Tuesday against Gulliver Prep out of Miami.
The team is extra motivated after some recent struggles in the semis.
“That motivates us a lot,” Perez told News 6,“ because not only did we lose last year but the last couple of years that I wasn‘t here, [Lake Highland Prep] also lost in the semifinals. It‘s kind of like built-up...I wouldn‘t say frustration but it’s like we want to compete; we want to win. So we‘re hungry for that win, you know what I mean? We‘re excited but we’re also very focused on the goal.”
