Sonic Prep Player of the Week: Larielle Thraps

Thraps bowls at East River High School

ORLANDO, Fla. – Larielle Tharps is a bowling phenom at East River High School.

Only a sophomore, Tharps is a strike-rolling machine for the East River Falcons that recently won its second consecutive state championship.

Despite her age, Tharps is not too young to lead. She has a perfect game on her resume (a game score of 300), and bowling is in her blood. Tharps' grandparents got the ball rolling for her, and her mom competes in leagues. Her older sister also bowled in college.

That may be in Tharps' future as well. But now, she is focused on trying to lead this close-knit cast of Falcons to two more state titles.

“Everyone has different personalities,” Tharps told News 6. “How some can be serious, some can be funny and joking around. And putting all that into one, it just makes a great team dynamic that doesn’t make us argue with each other or have times where we’re all mad at each other; it just gives us a nice little bubble... We have a lot of good team chemistry, so we’re not like all the other teams where there may be a lot of drama.”
