ORLANDO, Fla. – WKMG-TV News 6 in Orlando is thrilled to announce Autumn Jones as the newly appointed News Director, effective April 14, 2025.
Jones has years of multi-market experience as a leader in broadcast journalism.
She joins News 6 from WFTX-TV FOX 4 in the Fort Myers-Cape Coral-Naples area of Southwest Florida, where she served as Station Manager and News Director.
During her tenure, the station built an audience across all platforms, successfully launching a new hyper-local journalism-focused brand and signing a broadcast rights deal with a local professional soccer team.
Jones also safely guided a team of journalists through multiple hurricanes, including Helene, Milton and the near-Category 5 Ian, which delivered significant damage across that area in 2022. Her station was crucial in helping residents rebuild from the disaster, raising more than $200,000 for local recovery.
“Autumn is a passionate and visionary editorial leader who understands the importance of community-focused news reporting,” said Sean McLaughlin, Vice President of News at Graham Media Group. “She is a champion of quality reporting and advocacy journalism that gets results that make our communities better.”
Jones has also led the way in news transformation efforts, exploring innovative techniques to tell stories and present them in ways that resonate with the audience. This includes innovating new technology and leveraging that tech to help her team excel.
Jones is no stranger to the Orlando market, having worked for nearly 15 years with ABC affiliate WFTV-TV. She also served as the Media Relations Director for the Orlando Police Department, guiding outreach messaging and strategic communications around the pandemic and 2020 police protests and managing media access and relationships with the law enforcement agency.
“I’m excited for this rare opportunity as a journalist to return to my City Beautiful roots and serve this rapidly growing Central Florida community and my new team at News 6. I look forward to collaborating with fellow station leaders and providing leadership and support so, together, we can leverage high-value reporting, advanced content distribution and authentic community relationships that propel News 6 forward as a must-have broadcast brand in households across the market,” she said.
Jones, who is also an avid Orlando City SC fan and season ticketholder, will officially start on April 14, 2025.
