BAY LAKE, Fla. – Walt Disney World on Wednesday shared a new glimpse into the upcoming new attraction, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
The highly-anticipated new attraction is currently under construction at the Magic Kingdom and is taking over the former area of Splash Mountain. The new rendering posted on Disney’s blog showcases the energetic bayou-loving character, Mama Odie.

“As depicted in this newly released rendering, Mama Odie jokes with guests along their journey after a special display of her magic.,” said Carmen Smith, senior vice president of Creative Development. “The 200-year-old Bayou Fairy Godmother, with her eccentric belongings and “seeing eye snake,” Juju, is comically eccentric, yet wise and all-knowing, throughout the adventure.”
Disney said Jenifer Lewis, who starred as the voice of Mama Odie in Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “The Princess and the Frog,” will return to her role for the attraction.
During Tiana’s Bayou Adventure guests will see characters including Tiana, Naveen, Louis the alligator, Eudora, Charlotte, “Big Daddy,” the King and Queen of Maldonia and Prince Ralphie.
Mama Odie is just one of several original characters guests will see on their journey through the bayou. Back in December, Imagineers unveiled some of the new animal critters guests will see as they twist and turn around the bayou listening to zydeco music, a special blend of rhythm and blues that was born in Louisiana. Just last month, Disney announced that the tiara-topped water tower, which will be the main focal spot for the façade, will be installed sometime this summer.
Imagineers said the attraction’s story takes place approximately one year after the events of “Princess and the Frog,” and guests will be immersed from the moment they step in the queue.
Work on the new attraction continues to make major progress following the closure of Splash Mountain earlier this year. Over at Disneyland, the company announced its Splash Mountain attraction will close starting May 31.
“This all-new adventure will bring Disney Parks guests into Princess Tiana’s world like never before when the attraction opens in Disneyland park at Disneyland Resort and Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort in 2024,” Smith said.
