VIDEO: SeaWorld Orlando’s ‘Penguin Trek’ coaster gains construction momentum

Attraction set to open to guests this spring

ORLANDO, Fla. – Construction crews at SeaWorld Orlando are making major progress on the park’s newest and upcoming attraction, Penguin Trek.

First announced last year, the new snowmobile-style coaster is set to open this spring in the park’s Antarctica area.

SeaWorld Orlando said riders will embark on an unforgettable expedition that catapults them through the Antarctic wilderness at speeds of up to 43 mph across a 3,020-foot track. In their role as intrepid researchers, thrill seekers will navigate the icy track, narrowly escaping the clutches of an ice cave. The adventure grows as they burst onto an outdoor coaster track featuring two exhilarating launches and a maze of twists and turns.

The park said the coaster’s finale will have the ride coming to a halt and guests will be in the heart of SeaWorld Orlando’s own penguin habitat.

During a recent flyover of the park Thursday, News 6 could see a number of roller coaster supports and track already in place. In a post on social media last week, SeaWorld Orlando shared photos of the white coaster track up-close.

Switzerland-based company, Bolliger & Mabillard, who also helped build and develop last year’s “Pipeline: The Surf Coaster, is responsible for the design of Penguin Trek.

For those eager to be among the first to experience the thrills of “Penguin Trek,” SeaWorld Orlando is offering 2024 annual passes on sale now.

These passes include unlimited admission, access to seasonal events, and exclusive Pass Member benefits like free guest tickets, free parking, and special savings on merchandise, food, and beverages.
