An 11-year-old boy arrested over the summer in connection to a series of “swatting” threats against Flagler County schools was sentenced after being adjudicated delinquent, according to the sheriff’s office.
Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly announced an 11-year-old was arrested in connection with a series of “swatting” threats made this year against several schools.
Flagler County Schools said beginning Monday, May 20, if parents kept their children out of school in light of the events last week, it will be marked as an administrative excused absence.
Flagler County deputies responded Friday to a middle school targeted by a threatening phone call for a fourth day in a row, according to the sheriff’s office.
Addressing parents directly, the sheriff’s office said it understands their concerns and is working with Flagler Schools to provide updates “as this caller continues to disrupt school operations.”

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – A Flagler County middle school teacher was charged with battery Wednesday after a video showed him forcefully throwing a student out of his classroom, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Buddy Taylor Middle School teacher Jeffrey Paffumi, 47, physically removed a 14-year-old boy from the classroom on Tuesday, lifting him out of his chair and off his feet, a video captured by another student shows. The Sheriff’s Office began investigating the incident after the boy’s parents learned of the incident and contacted the school. The video released by the Sheriff’s Office does not show what led up to the student being physically removed from the classroom. He was arrested in 2012 for criminal mischief and again in 2012, for battery, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
