Missy Williams, of the Dania Beach Vervet Project, was able to create a sanctuary for the colony of 40 monkeys near the Park N’ Go, an off-airport parking operator, News 6 partner Local 10 reports. Williams, a Florida Atlantic University researcher, has named them all and she has a database with files for each of the monkeys. Unlike different species of monkeys in northern Florida, the vervet monkeys do not carry herpes in their saliva, urine or feces, Williams said. Feeding wild primates is prohibited by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and harassing them is also not allowed.

Broward County sheriff's deputies are considering the death at a Dania Beach hotel to be suspicious, WPLG-TV reports. The body was found when the employee entered a guest room. “Upon deputies’ arrival, they located an adult female unresponsive on the third floor of the hotel,” Sgt. “Broward homicide detectives are classifying this as a suspicious death and are trying to identify the cause of death for the female.”Some guests checked out of the hotel after learning of the death.
