The mother of the victim of a hazing incident at Viera High School has filed paperwork to run against Brevard Public Schools board member Matt Susin in November's election.

The family and attorney of the student targeted in a hazing incident within Viera High School’s football team last month held a news conference Wednesday afternoon at the Fiske Boulevard Church of Christ in Rockledge.

Viera High School varsity and junior varsity football teams are cleared to return to competition this week, according to Brevard County Schools.

Football practice was allowed to resume at Viera High School as an investigation into a widely publicized hazing incident is ongoing, but Friday night’s game has ben canceled.
