Human-caused climate change made the record-smashing 2020 Atlantic hurricane season even wetter.

Here's a look back at three hurricanes that all happened in October.

The risk of COVID-19 in a public disaster shelter is lower for fully vaccinated people, according to the CDC.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration releases its annual outlook for the hurricane season.

Fresh off of a record-breaking hurricane season in which 30 named storms formed, another active year is expected, according to Colorado State University hurricane researchers.

The National Hurricane Center says that Hurricane Delta caused nearly three billion dollars in damage when it hit on Oct. 9.

They were hit by Hurricanes Laura and Delta. She, her husband and a son are living in tents on the property, while her other son, his fiance and their one-year old son are living in a loaned camper there. A relative's home on the same property is now gutted and they are living in a camper as well. From a relative's house where they had taken refuge, the Trahans watched as Laura flipped over and destroyed their mobile home. The Trahans have received used clothing, occasional meals and other help from volunteers, but they still confront daily challenges.

Another wave east of Bermuda has a chance to develop early next week as it gets pushed toward the Bahamas. Typically this time of year, the focus is on the Caribbean, as the Cabo Verde season -- storms rolling off of Africa -- slowly comes to a close. All major #hurricanes have formed in the central or western Caribbean. Large scale atmospheric conditions favor development in the Western Caribbean as we move into next week. Currently, there is not even a disturbance to pinpoint in that region, but given the conditions, thunderstorms appear likely in the Western Caribbean, and could eventually materialize into a tropical system.

Clair Hebert Marceaux lost her home in Cameron Parish, Louisiana, during Hurricane Laura and said the community was hard at work on rebuilding when Delta struck. “We can’t lose our momentum,” she said, though she added there was “utter devastation” in the area. Earnestine and Milton Wesley had decided to ride out Delta in their Lake Charles home, damaged by Laura. “And with God’s help we made it.”After blowing ashore, Delta moved over Lake Charles, a city where Laura damaged nearly every home and building.

WINTER GARDEN, Fla. – For the fourth time this year, Duke Energy sent crews to the Gulf Coast this time to help residents during Hurricane Delta. Robert Thompson is one of the linemen with Duke Energy and left Friday morning. He had just gotten back from the panhandle a couple of weeks ago after Hurricane Sally left thousands without power. Spokesperson with Duke Energy said the company is actually sending 165 crews from all over the state to Louisiana. Florida Power and Light also sent dozens of crews to the Gulf Coast on Thursday.

– Hurricane Delta sped up one Louisiana couple's wedding by a few days, but judging by the smiles on the bride and groom, it certainly didn't dampen the affair. Skies were gray, but the rain held off while the wedding party gathered. The streets outside were largely deserted as residents finished up last-minute storm preparations or evacuated. “Within 16 hours they threw an entire wedding together, and it’s beautiful. It was very important for her that she did get married in the church and when that almost didn’t happen she was so distraught,” she said.

The last time we went through all the letters of the alphabet and moved on to the Greek alphabet was 2005. In 2005, a record-breaking year of devastating hurricanes, we made it through six Greek letters. The Committee also agreed that it was not practical to retire into hurricane history a letter in the Greek alphabet.

John Bel Edwards says the most recent forecast for Hurricane Delta has the storm making landfall “almost precisely” where Hurricane Laura struck in August. The current forecast has the same areas that were devastated by Hurricane Laura in late August receiving another strike from Delta, a strong hurricane, on Friday. Delta rapidly intensified in the Western Caribbean going from a tropical depression to a Category 4 hurricane in just 30 hours. In a 24-hour period, Wilma’s wind speed increased a whopping 105 mph, from a tropical storm to a monster Category 5 hurricane. Water temperature in the Gulf of Mexico with the current forecast of Hurricane Delta. With that said, Delta could still strike the North Gulf Coast as a category 2 or 3 hurricane.

ORLANDO, Fla. – Thursday is all about the heat as high pressure dominates the forecast. High pressure is sinking air that does not allow for much in the way of cloud cover to develop. Expect lots of sunshine and high temperatures in the low 90s. Rain chances are low at 20% Thursday afternoon, but moisture increases for the end of the week and weekend. Expect a 50% coverage of rain Friday and 60% coverage of rain Saturday and Sunday.

The projected path included the southwest area of Louisiana where Category 4 Hurricane Laura made landfall less than two months ago. Frankie Randazzo, 47, the partner of two restaurants in Lake Charles, said people in the city were extremely anxious ahead of the hurricane. Randazzo watched pieces of one of his restaurants, Panorama Music House, fly past a meteorologist’s car on a Facebook Live video during Hurricane Laura. The most recent forecast for Hurricane Delta has the storm making landfall “almost precisely” where Hurricane Laura struck — a region where homes and electrical infrastructure are still damaged, Edwards said in a radio interview. New Orleans, well to the east of the projected landfall area, was expected to escape the worst of Hurricane Delta.

The storm being watched Wednesday was Hurricane Delta, the 25th named storm of the Atlantic's unprecedented hurricane season. Forecasts placed most of Louisiana within Delta's path, with the latest National Hurricane Center estimating landfall in the state on Friday. Along with getting hit by Hurricane Laura and escaping Hurricane Sally, Louisiana saw heavy flooding June 7 from Tropical Storm Cristobal. Tropical Storm Beta prompted tropical storm warnings in mid-September as it slowly crawled up the northeast Texas coast. “Not seeing any signs of any additional tropical weather in the extended which is OK with us because we are SO DONE with Hurricane Season 2020,” they wrote.

We have a stalled front just to the south of our area that will be a focal point for increased rain south of Brevard County, mainly near the Treasure Coast. Quintana Roo state’s governor is warning residents and tourists that it is the strongest storm since Hurricane Wilma in 2005.

We officially saw a trace of rain Monday in Orlando, although many areas of Brevard County saw more than 4 inches. As Gamma weakens, our rain chances have gone down slightly in Central Florida.
