Starting Monday, all four sites will offer 3,000 first doses per day at each of the four locations thanks to Gov. Ron DeSantis asking the Florida Division of Emergency Management and Florida Department of Health to reallocate state vaccine supply to those sites. News 6 has contacted the Florida Department of Health for additional information on when first doses will no longer be offered. So far, 300,000 individuals have gotten inoculated at the FEMA sites.

During a meeting Thursday, Central Florida Expressway Authority board members voted unanimously to increase the speed limit from 55 to 60 mph along State Road 408, between Kirkman Road and Chickasaw Trail. Along 408 in Orange County, drivers go from a 65 mph speed limit to 55 in both directions. Engineers said State Road 408 is nearly 50 years old, and that increasing the speed limit even more would require costly construction and changes to the roadway. With the board’s approval of the speed limit change, 55 new signs will be created costing about $125,000.

The driver of a BMW drove into the back of a truck carrying a cement pole on Kirkman Road sending the pole through their vehicle, according to the Orlando Fire Department. While on scene, a firefighter assisting with the extraction was injured and taken to AdventHealth Orlando, according to a spokesperson.

Taxes from that district go toward road improvements in the tourist district instead of items for Orange County residents, such as police departments and schools. The Universal Orlando agreement with the county would extend the taxing district to 2040, continuing to route funds into the tourist district. The Orange County Board of Commissioners was set to vote on the deal Tuesday. Demings said in a statement Friday he won’t support the agreement as is and asked the commission to re-examine the end date on the taxing district.
