CLERMONT, Fla. – Two people were killed early Thursday in a crash in Lake County, forcing a major roadway to close for hours, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The crash involved multiple vehicles, including a tractor-trailer, according to troopers. An image tweeted by the FHP shows at least two vehicles crashed into the side of a jackknifed tractor-trailer. AdRecord show the 68-year-old man driving the tractor-trailer lost control for an unknown reason, which caused the vehicle to jackknife across the northbound lanes. The 53-year-old Orlando man driving the SUV and the 56-year-old Davenport man driving the sedan both died at the scene.

The sheriff’s office said the school resource deputy responded to a classroom after a teacher found a 9mm Kel-Tec Luger pistol in a student’s backpack. LCSO said the 16-year-old student did not know the gun was in the backpack and said he had “fished” it out of Lake Eustis using a rope and a magnet. Deputies said the student was transported to the Lake County Jail. He is facing charges of possession of a gun on campus and two counts of possession of a controlled substance after deputies said they found a Ritalin pill and Zolpidem pill in a bottle in his backpack.

MOUNT DORA, Fla. – Human remains were stolen from a Mount Dora cemetery and used in some type of ritualistic activity, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said they were called Sunday afternoon to Edgewood Cemetery at 3333 Britt Road about a complaint of vandalism to some of the graves. Deputies said the vandals disturbed four graves, all of which no longer held human remains, and attempted to access a fifth. Sheriff’s deputies were alerted to the vandalism by a woman who was driving past the cemetery and noticed a disturbed tomb stone. Deputies talked to residents who live nearby and they said they did not hear any loud noises coming from the cemetery.

CLERMONT, Fla. – A pool service employee reported a foul odor coming from a Clermont home Tuesday morning, leading to the discovery of three bodies detectives believe are victims of a double murder-suicide. Herrell said they believe a woman fatally shot her husband and their son with special needs then turned the gun on herself. Based on documents found in the home, Herrell said the woman had likely been planning to kill her family. The woman and her husband are in their 70s while their son is in his 50s, records show. They were last seen about three weeks ago when the husband returned home after receiving treatment at a hospital, according to authorities.

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – A 44-year-old man is in the Lake County Jail, accused of uploading videos exploiting a child from his employer’s computer. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office says they received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that traced back to an insurance company in Eustis. Investigators say the two files clearly contained images and videos depicting child pornography and were uploaded onto KIK, a mobile app. Authorities say though the files were uploaded from an IP address relating to the insurance company, the user information pointed them to a home in Leesburg. He’s currently in the Lake County Jail being held without bond.

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – Deputies with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office released a sketch of a woman authorities said was involved in a suspicious encounter with a 9-year-old girl at an area playground. The Sheriff’s Office said the encounter occurred near the playground in front of Building 5 of the Raintree Apartments in Clermont on Oct. 6. The incident happened between 7:45 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., according to the Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office said the woman left the scene going east toward Building 5 of the apartment complex. CLERMONT, Fla. – A 39-year-old man drove his car into a Clermont home Wednesday night before he shot and killed his father-in-law and then took his own life, Lake County sheriff’s officials said. The murder-suicide was reported around 7:20 p.m. on Windchime Circle, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Lake County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Fred Jones identified the estranged husband as Jeffrey Story. Story’s estranged wife and multiple children were in the home but were not physically harmed, Jones said.
