The unarmed French S-530 air-to-air missile was found Lakeland Linder International Airport on on Friday. It is secured and safe and they are just waiting on when and where they are going to dispose of the missile. But this one is too large to do that at MacDill, so the disposal logistics are being planned out. The missile was found near Draken International, a defense contractor located at the airport.

TAMPA, Fla. – MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida, was briefly put on lockdown Friday morning after a report of an armed suspect outside the base. The base was put on lockdown after local authorities notified the base there was an armed suspect near one of the base’s gates, a news release said. Base officials were assisting local law enforcement in searching for the suspect, Lt. Brandon Hanner, a spokesman for MacDill said. Investigators notified base officials that they thought the man was on or near MacDill. During the lockdown, traffic was at a standstill on numerous roads around the base, which is near downtown Tampa, news outlets reported.
