Turkey’s first astronaut has returned home to a hero’s welcome as a symbol of the country’s advances in technology and aerospace.

SpaceX has launched Turkey's first astronaut along with a Swede and Italian to the International Space Station.

Mission control cheered Monday as SpaceX brought home the first all-private crew from the International Space Station and prepped to launch another crew Wednesday.

NASA said the crew will now undock from the ISS Saturday at 8:35 p.m., with a plan to splashdown off the coast of Florida at about 1:46 p.m. on Sunday.

The first all-private crew tasked with the Ax-1 mission will speak from the International Space Station Wednesday afternoon.

After an almost hour-long delay due to technical issues, the Axiom Ax-1 crew docked at the International Space Station Saturday morning.

SpaceX confirmed Wednesday the all-private crew mission Ax-1 is scheduled to take off Friday morning, according to the company’s social media.

Melroy, Michael Lopez-Alegria and Scott Kelly made up the class of 2020 inductees.

Three veteran astronauts will be inducted into the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame Saturday morning at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.
