It’s been six years since 17 people were killed in the Parkland school shooting, and many are honoring the victims Wednesday with moments of silence and other events, according to News 6 partner Local 10 News.

The protest came day after their principal was removed.

Students at a Broward County high school walked out of the classroom Tuesday, one day after the district announced it was reassigning the school’s principal and several other staff members amid a probe into a transgender athlete.

The Orange County School Board unanimously voted for Dr. Maria Vazquez to be the district’s next superintendent on Tuesday.
