The Chicago-style restaurant announced today it would not be opening its doors in a few weeks as anticipated. Restaurant officials said they are getting closer to opening, but the location needs more time. Portillo’s was first scheduled to open March 2 but that opening was delayed to March 23 during the last day of February. The Orlando location is the fast-casual chain’s first Central Florida restaurant, making it the third in Florida after Tampa and Brandon.

Portillo’s, which will be located at The Village at O-Town West, announced Monday it will have a grand opening on March 2 at 10:30 a.m. Portillo fans can get their hands on a limited-edition T-shirt celebrating the opening by signing up for the Portillo’s Birthday club while supplies last. In anticipation of its opening, Portillo officials said they are hiring approximately 150 people in a variety of hourly and shift leader positions. For a taste of Portillo’s menu prior to opening, the Beef Bus will be serving food around the Orlando area starting Jan. 21. The locations and dates will be announced on Twitter and Instagram, restaurant officials said.
