I-75 reopens in Sumter County after semi catches fire

A big rig catches fire in Sumter County.

BUSHNELL, Fla. – A tractor-trailer hauling citrus caught fire Sunday evening on Interstate 75 in Sumter County, officials said.

The fire was reported at 6:11 p.m. on I-75 at mile marker 315 near Bushnell.

Fire officials said the tractor was engulfed in flames, which were spreading to the refrigerated trailer.

The fire was extinguished in 12 minutes, officials said.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

I-75 was closed in both directions while firefighters battled the blaze. The interstate later reopened.
